Internet Safety 101 for Parents
How To Keep Our Children Safe In The Cyber World
By the year 2007, it is estimated that there will be approximately 1.5 billion people online, a large segment of which will be children, pre-teens, teens, and young adults. In a recent published Canadian research paper called, “Young Canadians In A Wired World”, 99% of youth interviewed stated that they had surfed the Internet, and 78% stated that they have home access to the World Wide Web. When you consider the fact that in the year 2000 the FBI found at least 23,000 child pornography sites, 420 million pages of pornography, and over 500,000 online photos showing sexual acts involving minors, it becomes obvious that we need to be educated on Internet safety.
