Dating Violence Prevention Seminar (ages 14+)
This 1.5 hour seminar is based on a body of research that was conducted in the United States by Kent University on the subject of Date, or Acquaintance Rape. Studies have shown that in more than 85% of sexual assault cases, the attacker was someone the female survivor either knew, loved, or trusted. Topics covered in this seminar include:
- What is dating violence
- How does datin violence usually occur
- The difference between seduction and rape
- Avoidance strategies
- Danger signals to be aware of on a date
- What to do if you find yourself in a date rape situation
- The effects of dating violence
- Family and friends….how you can help
- The most common date rape drugs being used and how you can protect yourself from them
- Canadian Law and self defence
This seminar is designed for women who are concerned about their personal safety when it comes to dating, and would be an excellent seminar for junior and senior high school students, as well as women attending college and university.
