Children's Privacy On-line

Interesting article from the United States, where a company was fined over $50,000 dollars for collecting personal information in violation of the US's Children's On-line Privacy Protection Act (COPPA).  Of note, here in Canada, we have the Canadian Marketing Association (CMA) "Code of Conduct" which driectly reflects the US based COPPA.  In several other previous postings, I have written about concerns specific to how our privacy is being slowly dwindled away on-line, and how this can have a negative impact on what I call our "Digitial Footprint".  We have known for years, that many of the favorite gaming apps being played by our children, have also been collecting private information to create a "digital dosier" that can then be sold to third party vendors who then target products directly to our child's interests. It is nice to see that we are now starting to hold companies accountable for these violations........
